Vice President Zhang Baiqing Leads WRSA Delegation on Visit to GZU

On May 16, Vice President Zhang Baiqing of the Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA), also known as the Overseas-educated Scholars Association of China, led a delegation to visit GZU to oversee projects granted to its returned scholars. Vice President Zhang, who holds several prominent positions including President of the Australia-New Zealand WRSA, President of the WRSA in Hubei, and member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was accompanied by other key delegates, including Xu Yougang, Vice Director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee. Also joining the delegation were GZU leaders including President and Academician Song Bao'an and other key personnel concerned.

The delegation's itinerary included visits to GZU’s Engineering Research Center of Southwest Bio-Pharmaceutical Resources affiliated with the Ministry of Education and the GZU History Museum. During these visits, they were briefed on the progress made in projects designed for returned overseas faculty and students at GZU. Additionally, the delegates held productive discussions with the returned scholars on key issues related to promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.

Vice President Zhang Baiqing expressed his appreciation for the commitment shown by the returned overseas scholars in fulfilling their roles at GZU. He emphasized the importance of all WRSA members associated with GZU in effectively implementing the laws and regulations set forth by the Central United Front Work Department and the WRSA headquarters. Recognizing the distinct contributions of the returned GZU scholars, he encouraged them to prioritize the guidance of the Party in their endeavors. Furthermore, he called upon each scholar to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to research and their assigned tasks, emphasizing their role as a valuable "think tank" capable of fostering global collaborations and driving China's modernization efforts forward.

The visit by Vice President Zhang Baiqing and the WRSA delegation to GZU provided an excellent opportunity for fruitful exchanges and collaboration between the returned overseas scholars and the association. It further underscored the importance of their contributions to the development and advancement of China's education and research landscape.
