On May 24th, a symposium on the investigation of engineering and scientific talent demand was held at Guizhou University (GZU), with a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Engineering leading the discussion. The symposium was attended by Xu Jin and Huang Haitao, leaders of the Academy, along with Zhang Dalin, Vice President of GZU. Representatives from relevant provincial departments, universities, and research institutes were also present. An Shouhai, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, chaired the meeting.
During the symposium, Xu Jin briefly introduced the investigation's background and purpose. He emphasized that the Chinese Academy of Engineering is committed to thoroughly studying the talent demands of relevant entities. They aim to strengthen collaboration between the Academy and local regions, leveraging their platform advantages while aligning with actual needs. Xu Jin highlighted the importance of utilizing subjective initiative and outlined plans to implement precise measures. These efforts include effectively coordinating education, science, technology, and talent resources to foster the high-quality development of Guizhou. Notably, the focus will be on the unique areas within the western region.
GZU Vice President Zhang Dalin conveyed his hope for the Chinese Academy of Engineering to establish regional support policies specifically tailored to the needs of the western region. He emphasized the importance of talent cultivation and development in this context. He also proposed strengthening guidance for Guizhou's initiatives through activities like the regular “Academicians’ Trip to Guizhou”, which would bring valuable suggestions and advice for the social and economic development of the province.
Throughout the meeting, participating units had the opportunity to present their work in various domains, including science and technology introduction, targeted talent support, and assistance for key laboratories.
